Yes, the SPIE Digital Library is COUNTER compliant. Each report provides a unique view into online usage data and is formatted to the guidelines that COUNTER has provided.

The reports detail counts of successful requests made from the IP addresses you have provided on your institutional subscriber license. The usage data is confined to content related pages including abstracts, table of contents, searches and full-text article downloads.

It's not possible to subscribe to only the Proceedings of SPIE via the Digital Library. The Digital Library contains the Proceedings of the Society as well as its four journals. It is an inclusive package; we do not segment the Proceedings separately. As a bit of context, 96% of the 300,000 articles in the Digital Library are from SPIE Proceedings.

Yes, SPIE is able to bill an agent like Ebsco for payment if that is desirable; however, the license for the Digital Library must be arranged or negotiated directly between SPIE and your institution.

Yes, SPIE allows access when a license is signed and payment is received. Depending on the institution, these two steps can generally take between 4 to 6 weeks.  SPIE Licenses are typically based on a 12 month term.

Yes, we provide statistics and usage reports to the primary administrative contact documented in the license agreement. Institutions and corporations with an active subscription may use the online tools to generate and view usage reports at anytime.

Proceedings of SPIE are among the most cited references in the patent literature and are indexed in numerous online databases including INSPEC, Ei Compendex, Physics Abstracts, Chemical Abstracts, SPIN, International Aerospace Abstracts, ISI Indexto Scientific and Technical Proceedings, and the Smithsonian/NASA Astrophysics Data System Abstract Service (ADS).

Yes, proxy server access is allowed The full Digital Library subscription includes institution-wide access to more than 325,000 individual articles currently contained in the SPIE Digital Library.

It includes unlimited downloads and no concurrent user limitations. Access is IP based.

Yes, a trial period is available. Generally, we start trials on the first of each month.  We offer 30 days of free trial access to institutions considering an SPIE Digital Library subscription. Yes, SPIE offers one hour online training sessions, guided and hands-on, using the GoToMeeting video conferencing application. Knowledgeable staff offer an overview of the platform, then use topic examples provided by trainees to demonstrate how to efficiently and quickly find relevant information within the SPIE Digital Library.
